It is found near freshwater.
Its diet varies seasonally. It forages by probing in shallow water or on wet mud. It feeds mainly on insects but also takes invertebrates, small fish, frogs and plant matter.
Breeding & Nesting
It breeds between March to May. It nests on the ground or uses an abandoned old tree nest of another bird.
