White-eyed buzzard is medium sized bird of prey.
How does the bird appear…
It can be easily identified by its white iris, white throat and dark mesial stripe.It has dark head and yellow cere. Underparts are heavily barred. Rufous tail is barred with a darker subterminal band.
Juveniles show brownish iris with whitish forehead and broad supercillium.
Habitat: Where to find this bird?
The white-eyed buzzard inhabits dry open land, open forest and cultivated lands.
It feeds on large insects such as locusts, cricket, grasshoppers etc. It also takes mice, lizards and frogs.
Breeding & Nesting
It breeds from February to May. Nest is built by both male and female and is platform of twigs. Incubation period is of around 19 days and incubation is done by female. Young ones are fed by both parents.
