Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary (Tamilnadu)


Vedanthangal is the oldest water bird sanctuary in the country. It was established in 1858. More than 40,000 birds from various parts of the world visit the sanctuary during the winter season every year.

Birds commonly seen:

Resident birds- Cormorant, Darter, Large egret, Little egret, Night heron,

Migratory birds- Garganey, Teal, Grey pelicans, Painted storks, Spoonbills.
