Thol Bird Sanctuary (Gujarat)


Thol Lake is in Mehsana district of Gujarat. Thol Lake is a fresh water artificial lake. Initially constructed as an irrigation tank and was declared as Thol bird sanctuary in 1988.

The lake is a habitat for 150 bird species. It is also known as a nesting and breeding place for migratory birds.

Birds commonly seen:

Flamingos, Sarus crane, Great white pelican, Dalmatian pelican, Indian skimmer etc.
