Steppe eagle is large bird of prey.

It is categorized as Endangered in IUCN Red list

How does the bird appear…

It has brown upperparts with black tail and flight feathers. Throat is pale. The gape extends beyond the centre of the eye. The nostril is oval. Juveniles are paler.

Habitat: Where to find this bird?

It inhabits open, dry habitats such as desert, semi-desert, steppes, or savannah.


Its diet mainly consists of fresh carrion but also takes rodents and small mammals and birds. It is also seen that it steals food from other raptors. 

Breeding & Nesting

Breeding season is from April to July. Nest is large platform of sticks placed in trees. It lays 1-3 eggs.
