It has dark, stubby bill adapted for grain eating. Head is dark-brown and upperparts are brown. The underparts are white with dark scale markings. Both sexes are similar.
Habitat: Where to find this bird?
It is found in grassland and scrub, also in farmland and gardens on the edge of urban areas.
It feeds mainly on seed but also takes berries and takes algae and protein rich diet before breeding season.
Breeding & Nesting
It breeds from June to August in India. Nest is large doom shaped structure with side entrance and is place in tree. Nest building and incubation is done by both sexes.
