Ruddy kingfisher


Ruddy kingfisher is migratory tree kingfisher.

How does the bird appear…

It is medium sized kingfisher with large, bright red bill and red legs. Body is rusty red and becomes purple towards tail. Female is duller than male.

Habitat: Where to find this bird?

It is found in thick forests and rain forests.


It feeds on fish, crustaceans, amphibians and large insects.

Breeding & Nesting

It nests in tree holes or in termite nests. Nests are dug by both male and female.
