Red crested pochard


Red crested pochard is medium sized bird.

How does the bird appear…

Male- It has round reddish-chestnut head, pinkish-reddish bill and black breast. Back has brown shade with white flanks. Tail is black.

Female- Face is whitish with darker crown and pale brown body.

Habitat: Where to find this bird?

It inhabits lowland marshes and lakes.


It feeds on aquatic plants.

Breeding & Nesting

It breeds from April to June. It nests in the vegetation along the side of lakes.
