Raiganj Bird Sanctuary (West Bengal)


Raiganj Wildlife Sanctuary is situated near Raiganj in Uttar Dinajpur district of West Bengal. Around 164 bird species can be found here and about 70,000 to 80,000 migratory birds visit the sanctuary every year.

Birds commonly seen:

Resident birds –  Kite, Owl, Woodpecker, Kingfisher ,Drongo
Migratory birds – Egret,Dark delegated night heron, Lake Heron, Indian Shag, Asian Openbill stork etc

Raiganj railway station, direct train is available from Kolkata to Raiganj Railway station.

The sanctuary is well connected by road to Kolkata.
