Plumbeous water redstart


Plumbeous water redstart’ name refers to its colour which resembles lead.

How does the bird appear…

Male- It is slate blue in colour with rusty red tail.

Female- It is pale grey with white rump.

Habitat: Where to find this bird?

It is found near fast-flowing streams or rivers and it is very protective of its habitat.


It mostly feeds on insects but rarely takes seeds and berries.

Breeding & Nesting

Its breeding season varies depending upon its range. Deep cup shaped nest is always placed near water in rock or bridge, or on side branch in tree-stump, on ledge covered with vegetation.
