Plain prinia is small, passerine, shy bird and hence it is difficult to spot. It is resident breeder in India.
How does the bird appear…
It has short rounded wings and long tail.
Breeding plumage- Upperparts are grey-brown and underparts are whitish-buff. It shows short white supercillium.
Non-breeding plumage- It shows warm brown upperparts and more buff underparts during non-breeding season.
Habitat: Where to find this bird?
It is found in wet lowland grassland, open woodland, scrub and sometimes gardens.
It is insectivorous.
Breeding & Nesting
In India it breeds during June to October. It nests in shrub or in tall grass. Nest is purse like structure often sewed to foliage.
