How does the bird appear…
Bill is yellowish with reddish at the base. Skin around eyes is bare and reddish. The upper body, throat and breast are black. Cheek, lores, wing coverts and rump are white. Both sexes are similar.
Habitat: Where to find this bird?
It is found at lowland open areas with scattered trees near water. It is commonly seen near human habitation.
It forages in small groups on ground. It feeds on grains, fruit, insects, earthworms and mollusks.
Breeding & Nesting
Breeding season is from March to September. Nest is loose mass of straw with entrance on side. Incubation period is of 14-15 days. Both parents feed the chicks.
