Oriental Sky Lark

The Oriental skylark is also known as the Oriental lark or small skylark. It is found in southern and central Asia.

How does the bird appear…

It has erectile crest on head. Upper parts show dark brown and buff streaked appearance. The underparts are pale buff and streaked with black on the breast. Tail is blackish-brown with outer white feathers. Legs and bill are pinkish.

Habitat: Where to find this bird?

Its habitat includes open grasslands, subtropical shrub land, large open forests especially near water body.


It feeds on insects and seeds.

Breeding & Nesting

The nest is cup shaped. Incubation period is of 10-11 days. Female alone incubates the eggs. Chicks are fed by both parents.
