Large niltava is large forest flycatcher.
How does the bird appear…
It is a stocky, sluggish bird and shows sexual dimorphism.
Male- It has dark blue plumage with iridescent blue crown and neck patch.
Female- It has rusty brown plumage with iridescent blue neck patch.
Habitat: Where to find this bird?
It inhabits sub-montane and montane broadleaf forests.
It feeds invertebrates, berries, crickets and also takes small snakes.
Breeding & Nesting
It breeds from February to July. Nest is bulky cup and is placed in tree hollows or holes in dead tree stumps. Incubation period is of 15 days. Chicks are fed by both parents.
