Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary (Kerala)


Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is situated in Kottayam district of Kerala. It is also known as Vembanad Bird Sanctuary.

This sanctuary was developed in rubber plantation by Englishman, and was initially known as Baker’s estate.

Birds commonly seen:

Pin-tailed duck, Garganey teal, Spot-billed duck, Osprey, Marsh harrier, Steppe eagle etc.
