BirderPics: How did you develop interest in birding?

Sandeep Shroff: It all started from the terrace of my building. I used to hear calls of birds but never took interest in clicking pictures, but one fine day a grey hornbill came on my kitchen window which aroused my interest and then onwards I regularly started clicking pictures of BIRDS and that’s how it all started and now I regularly visit places in and around Pune for birding and Vetal Tekdi is my favourite spot.

BirderPics: How do your family, friends and neighbors look at your hobby?

Sandeep Shroff:  They are very happy and especially my family is very supportive and also take interest in it.

BirderPics: Which was your best birding experience till now?

Sandeep Shroff: There are many, but in South Africa was really special. But birding in Bhigwan (NEAR PUNE) has always been close to my heart. I religiously go there every year. Not only flamingoes but lots of other species of birds migrate to that part of the world. The whole nature around it is so beautiful and majestic.

BirderPics: Which is the best birding time and best birding season as per you?

Sandeep Shroff: The best birding time for birding is from November to April.

BirderPics: Tell us about your birding photography gear and how do you take care of your gear?

Sandeep Shroff: I have a Canon 550D camera and for birding I use the Canon 100-400mm lens IS II .I have a special camera bag which I have bought from Amazon which is very well designed to keep the lens and camera.

BirderPics: Any tips for our new birders?

Sandeep Shroff: For new birders it’s very important to study the behaviour of the birds instead of just clicking the pictures. It helped me a lot and the most important thing is patience.
