Today we are meeting Dr. Sudhir Hasamnis who is from Pune. He was earlier working with TATA Motors.
He is in birding field since last 3 years.
In 2011 he had heart attack and got operated. He was advised strict bed rest for 2 to 3 months during this period he started observing birds from his window and also started photography.
Here he mentions about group ‘Birds of Pune’ group for amateur birders, who helped him to develop and nurture his interest in birding.
He mentions Dandeli as his favorite birding place and Malabar trogan as his favorite bird. He told us about birding spots around Pune such as Tamhini Ghat, Pashan, Singhgarh valley, Mayureshwar, Bhigawan etc.
He describes one incidence when he had been to Maleghat for critically endangered species- Forest owlet. He got late due to some reasons but still waited for try and he was lucky enough to see the bird not once or twice but for two hours and with kill.
He also shares one memory when he had been to Nannaj for GIB but because of some reason the photographs got washed off from card. Last year he visited GRK and could see GIB from distance of 20ft.
He advices birders to not to disturb birds it is ok if you miss one or two shots but disturbing birds is not good.
He suggest amateur bird photographers to check camera settings before clicking.
