It has salty-grey upper plumage with lemon under parts. It shows white supercillium with broken eye-ring. Tail is black with white edges. Bill is black and legs are dark brown. The breeding male has a black throat that is edged by whitish moustachial stripes.

It is found near fast flowing mountain streams, at rivers, canals and at forested areas.
It feeds on various aquatic invertebrates.
Breeding & Nesting
Its breeding season is between April to July. It nests near fast flowing streams or near river on embarkment between roots and stones. Incubation period is of 15 days.
