Blue-cheeked bee-eater is strongly migratory bird.
How does the bird appear…
It is mainly green. Its face has blue sides with black eye stripe. Throat is yellow-brown. Bill is red. It shows two elongated central tail feathers. Both sexes are alike but central tail feathers of female are shorter.
Habitat: Where to find this bird?
It prefers open cultivation, with some trees and bushes, or dry uncultivated country with scattered bushes. It is always found near water.
It mainly takes dragonflies but also feeds on insects, wasps, hornets etc.
Breeding & Nesting
It breeds in colonies. It nests in slopping grounds, vertical sandy banks, embankments or low sandy cliffs. Nest is long tunnel around one to two meters long. Incubation period is of 24 days. Incubatio and feeding of young ones is done by both parents.
