Black-hooded Oriel


Black-hooded oriel is resident over southern Asia.

How does the bird appear…

Male has yellow plumage allover with black hood. Black is present in the center tail and wings.
Female is duller with greenish under parts, it also has the black hood.
Young birds are like female but the hood is not solidly dark especially over throat.

Habitat: Where to find this bird?:

It is found in Light open forest, plantations, groves, gardens and public parks.


It feeds on insects and fruits, especially on figs.

Breeding & Nesting:

It breeds throughout the year with some local variations. The nest is built in tree and contains two eggs.
