Bar-headed goose breeds in Central Asia. It is one of the world’s highest-flying birds

How does the bird appear…

It has white face and neck. Head shows two black bars on it. Its general plumage is grey. The bill and legs are orange. The feet are webbed. 

Habitat: Where to find this bird?

It inhabits high mountain lakes.


It feeds on grass, wheat, barley and rice, it also takes larvae , pupae, aquatic animals, plant material, seeds, small fish, snails and crabs.

Breeding & Nesting

It breeds from May to June. It breeds in colonies. It nests mainly on Tibetan plateau. It nests on ground in tall grass. Incubation period is of 27-30 days.
