How does the bird appear…
The bird is of sparrow size with Finch like bill and legs.
The male is sandy brown overall with a black belly, chin, lower lores and eye stripe. The top of the head is ashy.
The female is pale brown and similar to House sparrow.
Habitat: Where to find this bird?
It is found in open land with bare ground, grass and scrub areas.
It forages on ground. It mainly feeds on seed but also takes insects and grasshoppers.
Breeding & Nesting:
Breed before rain mainly during February to September. The nest is a compact depression under a tuft of grass in the ground. It is lined with grass and hair with some pebbles arranged on the edge. Eggs are incubated by both the parents. Eggs hatch in 13-14 days.
