Agumbe (Karnataka)


Agumbe is a small village located in Shimoga district of Karnataka. This place receives highest rainfall in Southern India. Around 212 bird species are found here. It is mainly known for king Cobra. The fauna here includes 30 mammals, 52 reptiles, 30 amphibians, 118 butterflies.

Birds commonly seen:

Malabar Trogon, Yellow-browed Bulbul and Sri Lankan Frogmouths, Crested goshawk, Malabar pied Hornbil, Grey hornbill, Malabar Woodshrike, Grey-fronted green pigeon, Wood pigeon, Niligiri flowerpecker etc.
